As a mobile therapist, I provide services in various settings such as homes, schools, and daycares to address occupational challenges.
Occupational therapy assists children with difficulties in daily living activities, including morning routines, school engagement, personal care (e.g., brushing teeth, bathing, dressing, eating), social interactions, sports participation, leisure activities, and sleep routines.
Occupational Therapists possess the unique ability to analyse and identify the factors contributing to task difficulties. They then develop plans to mitigate these challenges through skill-building, environmental adaptations, or task modifications. Skill-building may focus on fine motor skills, gross motor skills, sensory regulation, emotional regulation, or executive functioning.
It is essential to consider how a child's individual differences fit within their broader social and physical environments.
As an Occupational Therapist supporting the youth age group, I can play a vital role in helping young people build the skills and confidence needed for independent living. This includes working with them on practical everyday activities such as meal preparation, personal care routines, and time management.
I also support them in accessing and engaging with community groups, educational settings, and recreational activities to promote social inclusion and build meaningful connections.
Additionally, I assist in developing emotional regulation and interpersonal skills to help manage friendships, peer relationships, and transitions into adulthood. My goal is to empower youth to participate fully and successfully in all areas of their lives.
